So, what actually is backflow?
Normally, water only flows one way — into your home or building. Backflow is when a drop in pressure lets water reverse course, pulling whatever it touched along the way (chemicals, fertilizer, even sewage) back toward the drinking supply. A backflow prevention device stops that. Testing it once a year just confirms it's still doing its job.
